At World Coffee Research (WCR), scientists, governments, and companies worldwide are joining forces to help coffee flourish, now and in the future.
Coffee faces major challenges: climate change, diseases, and pests do not stop at borders. That is why WCR is working with countries in Asia, Latin America, and Africa to develop new, resilient coffee varieties. Their Innovea Coffee Breeding Network, a unique collaborative project, is developing climate-resistant coffee trees faster than ever before that not only survive but also produce great coffee. What normally takes 20-30 years is now being achieved in just eight years—now that's teamwork!
With research in 15 countries and 23 locations, WCR tackles problems such as coffee rust, a disease that threatens harvests worldwide. By sharing data, knowledge, and resources, solutions are created that no single country could have come up with on its own. And all with one goal in mind: a sustainable, flavorful coffee future.
More than 200 coffee companies, from roasters to exporters, are jointly investing in WCR's research. This year, they committed $10 million to developing new coffee varieties and better seed systems. This ensures that farmers have access to strong plants and that you can continue to enjoy your favorite Falco Caffè coffee.
